Coaching Staff (Past & Present)

We have a very talented coaching & training staff that are consistently elevating the performance of the players that come through our doors.

We believe each coach has made an impact on the athletes, as they always leave better for the experience! We pride our staff on being the best in Central Alberta for giving these kids a taste of what it takes to  reach the next level!

•  Head Coach/ Defensive Coordinator: Adam Kuntz
  • Adam Has played the game of football for over 14 years, and has played over 18 seasons in his career.
  • He played 3 years of Canadian Junior football, (2011- Westshore Rebels, 2012- Edmonton Huskies, 2013- Edmonton Huskies)
  • He played 4 years of USPORTS in the AUS conference with the Saint Francis Xavier X-men (won 2 conference championships and was in 3/4 conference championship games. Also was an AUS all-star in 2016, and was selected to the East West Bowl Game at Laval University to play in front of CFL scouts.)
  • Coached Shock in 2014 – Linebackers
  • Coached for the ABC Border Bowl in 2015 for Team Alberta.
  • Coached as Defensive Coordinator for shock in San Diego 2018

• Offensive Coordinator :  Maren Stevens
  • 20 years of coaching experience.Began coaching in 1997 at Wetaskiwin comp. Coached all youth levels from atom to high school. Worked in almost every role from unit coach, coordinator and often head coach.
  • 10^th season as Battle River Shock co-head coach.
  • Graduated from Wetaskiwin Composite high in 1992, went on to play with U of C Dino’s and Edmonton Huskies.

  • Started at Fullback for 4 years at the University of New Brunswick.  Coached University football for 3 years.  Coached another 25 years at the high school, midget, bantam and pee-wee levels.  Was the Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator of the Lloydminster Midget football team for 5 years, Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator of the Men’s Senior football team in Lloydminster.
